S.3546, the Dietary Supplement and Nonprescription Drug Consumer Protection Act, has passed. The Nutritional Health Alliance was unable to stop this deeply flawed bill, despite fighting it vehemently since its initial introduction. In one year, manufacturers of dietary supplements and OTC drugs will be forced to comply with non-causal adverse event reporting. What this means is, anyone who has a heart attack, stroke, or other adverse event will be able to blame their vitamins -- even if their vitamins are not responsible for the event.

Headlines may celebrate S.3546's passing as a Victory for Americans . . . though for the 500,000+ members of the NHA and countless additional health freedom fighters, S.3546 is a nightmare realized. The media may report that this bill was supported by major supplement industry groups and manufacturers. But what about the scores of supplement groups and manufacturers that fought against S.3546?
